I guess Texas rut starts way earlier than down here in south Alabama,bama starts around 1st of January and gets the full rut by the 2nd week of February

Their necks can swell up pretty fast. I’ve had taxidermist’s tell me that when they’ve skinned some of them out before that lots of water will run out from between the hide and the meat in the early season. It’s crazy how the testosterone affects them and brings the changes to their bodies like it does but the Man upstairs knew what he was doing and designed them pretty well.
