@the.literacy.lab5: Change just one sound, and you get a brand new word! 🔤 This is what word chains are all about. Word chains are a quick and effective way to practice several skills: * Listening to sounds * Connecting sounds to letters * Reading and spelling words Here’s how it works: 1. Start with "map." Change the /ă/ sound to /ŏ/, and you get "mop." 2. From "mop," change /m/ to /t/ to make "top." 3. Next, change /ŏ/ to /ĭ/ for "tip." 4. Finally, change /t/ to /s/ to get "sip." Students can use tools like letter tiles or whiteboards for this activity. For each step, encourage them to: * Say the current word * Identify the sound that needs to change * Change the corresponding letter * Read the new word aloud The main goal is to pay close attention to every sound and letter, as even a small change can create a completely different word! #Phonics #fypシ #structuredliteracy #ScienceOfReading #Literacy
