@atlantasoutdoordad: Easy family adventure in Roswell: Vickery Creek and the old Roswell Mill ruins. This is one of those spots that packs a lot into a short walk. The creek has a waterfall, which is actually a dam spillway that once powered the Roswell mills. Right by it are the ruins of the Roswell Manufacturing Company mills, built in 1839 and 1853 and burned by Union forces in 1864. The old machine shop is the only mill building that survived the Civil War, and there are signs along the path that explain the history. A covered pedestrian bridge crosses the creek, and it's a great photo spot. It also connects Old Mill Park to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area trails on the other side, so you can keep going if the kids have the energy. There's a short loop of about 1.6 miles that's easy, and longer loops of 3 to 4 miles if you want more. One tip: leave the stroller behind if you plan to venture out to the waterfall, since parts of the paths are gravel. A carrier works better for little ones. Parking at Old Mill Park is free and there are public restrooms, so it's an easy one with little kids. Make an afternoon of it. Summit Coffee is right there on Mill Street for coffee or a treat, and Souper Jenny on Atlanta Street is a good lunch option for soups, sandwiches, and salads. Put this one on your list. #VickeryCreek #RoswellGA #FamilyHike #ThingsToDoInAtlanta #GetOutside
