Funny thing about debt collectors. They have a disgusting amount of information about the person who owes the money. Funnier than that, they don’t always sue for it…but if they do and you go to court, YOU can prove that you don’t owe anything because the original debtor you owed gave up and the new collector paid your debt when they bought it. Essentially you don’t actually have to pay unless they lawyer up on you…but they’ll only do it if you owe enough for it to make sense for them to go that far or unless they’re incredibly petty.

You're forgetting that while he's paying 1/4 of everything he earns, the interest keeps accumulating by around 2/4 increasing his debt faster than he can repay it

there are charities that do this, but up a lot of bad debt for pennies on the dollar then write it off.... hmm can they take a tax write off for the full amount?

jusr alittle add on. some banks actually have insurance for this situation. they will actually recoup the amount loss and still sell the the debt to the collectors. when the debt it essentially clear
