Sketching 💫 This piece was commissioned by the lovely @Julia Åberg 🌹 If you guys have followed me for long enough you know I call this the 'Yin and Yang' pose. Basically two lovers but one of them is upside down. This is the third artwork in which I have drawn two characters like this and I honestly really love the idea behind it. (I have to give full credit for the idea to the first author who commissioned me and pitched the idea R.Reata) Every time I get commissioned to draw a pose like this I really get excited but the thing is because the core idea is basically two characters floating with one being upside down I have to get a little creative with the poses so they don't end up looking like each other✨ The hardest part about drawing this pose is always having to draw one of the characters upside down. A lot of people might think it's not that hard to draw a character upside down since you can easily rotate the canvas and draw them normally but that actually doesn't work. Perspective is very important when you want to draw two characters in one piece and since I'm always drawing characters as if I'm facing them and looking at them from below it means the perspective shifts from the center of the piece and the horizon line is not in the middle. Which means when I draw characters like this I actually have to draw them upside down 😬💔 Not gonna lie since I've drawn multiple characters like this (either falling or upside down) I'm now confident enough to draw them without thinking about proportions that much 😌🤌But I remember the first time I tried it it took me a week just to get the rough sketch out! (The sketch you see in this piece is the second or third draft after cleaning it up😭) All this just to say I love this pose and I'm always happy drawing these Yin and Yang lovers! 🥹💖 #sketching #digitaldrawing #bookart #bookcharacter #characterdesign
