@mikaacklin: "If I only had a brain…” Remember the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz? He believed he needed a brain to be capable of more. Yet, throughout the journey, he demonstrated problem-solving, resourcefulness, and the ability to think through challenges. What if you're not actually stuck? What if you've just stopped seeing your own value? Sometimes, we convince ourselves that we don't have what it takes to move forward in our careers. We question our abilities, overlook our accomplishments, and underestimate the skills we've developed along the way. But what if the skills you need for your next chapter are already there? One of the first exercises I use when helping someone think through a career transition is surprisingly simple: What are 5 things you do well? Not just what's listed on your job description. Not what you were evaluated on. What do people consistently come to you for? Are you the person who solves problems, calms a tense situation, organizes the chaos, supports others, or figures things out when no one else knows where to start? Those are skills. And many of them are transferable to opportunities you may not have considered yet. Because sometimes the problem isn't that you don't have skills. It's that you've been in an environment that stopped reflecting them back to you. Before you start applying for jobs or convincing yourself you're not qualified for something different, take inventory of what you already bring to the table. You might discover that you're not missing what you need to move forward. You just need a different perspective on what you already have. Your turn: If you had to name 5 things you do well, what would they be? #CareerTransition #TransferableSkills #CareerDevelopment #KnowYourWorth clarifyingpurposeexecutivecoaching.com
