I had 25k! 4 months late I am down to 9k! You can do it! Bankruptcy is definitely not worth 30k of debt. That’s actually a very small amount if you think of the bigger picture.

I consolidated last year and after some hardships i ended up having the loan and credit debt and ended up filing chapter 7 bankruptcy last week! A lawyer costs between 1200-3500 which is low compared to the debt. You can buy a house in 2 years too! Not my plan, so bankruptcy worked for me but just throwing it out there.

I know someone that used the “just file bankruptcy” logic and they can’t buy a house. They have to pay extra up front to rent an apartment. They can’t get a car without huge penalties. Bankruptcy isn’t the golden ticket people paint it to be online. It has significant consequences.

Bankruptcy attorney here. Although I practice corporate, not for individuals. You gotta do what’s best for you and, while I think bankruptcy can be a great option for people and should not be stigmatized, you definitely will need to learn how to manage money or else it is easy for it to happen again. At least if the problem is credit card debt. Not all debt can be planned for and managed unfortunately.

once you get it to like $15k you can probably do a balance transfer to a 0% interest for 18-24 months depending on the card. i dont think $30k is enough for bankruptcy really
