@kara_marlene: 🚨 BREAKING: TRUMP IS RECONSIDERING A PLAN TO LIVESTREAM A FIRING-SQUAD EXECUTION. And America is about to have a VERY uncomfortable conversation. Nidal Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist convicted of murdering 13 people and injuring 32 others at Fort Hood in 2009, is scheduled to be executed on December 3. BY FIRING SQUAD. The Pentagon announced plans to broadcast the execution live. But now President Donald Trump says he will make the final decision about whether the public gets to watch. ⚖️ The first U.S. military execution since 1961. ⚖️ A firing squad — a method the military hasn’t used since World War II. ⚖️ A proposed livestream that has sparked criticism from lawmakers and human rights organizations. And this comes just days after Christa Pike survived a failed lethal injection in Tennessee. HERE’S MY QUESTION: Is a public execution an act of justice? A deterrent? Or does broadcasting someone’s death turn punishment into entertainment? You can support the death penalty and still question whether the government should livestream an execution. I want to hear BOTH sides. WOULD YOU WATCH? AND SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT BROADCAST IT? #NidalHasan #DeathPenaltyDebate #FortHood #BreakingCrimeNews #TrueCrimeCommunity
good you don't have to watch it if you don't want to but this is sending a message that's all it is

So, I believe in the death penalty but our justice system is trash. From what I understand they chose firing squad. People need to realize this execution event has been trialed and simulated over and over again on us and they know exactly what the outcome will be on the ppl and how they will react down to an exact science… look into what laws are being pushed etc right now. They know how to manipulate emotions and instill fear to get what they want. It’s not about justice and it’s not even about making an example out of it. When a government publicly displays an execution, viewers may interpret the event as communicating that certain forms of lethal violence are legitimate under particular circumstances. Depending on the circumstances, it may become a powerful social event that generates fear, anger, grief, or division.
Communities may interpret the same broadcast very differently. Some may view it as accountability, while others may experience it as intimidation or a violation of human dignity.
These competing interpretations can intensify existing divisions, particularly when the execution is widely circulated online. Theres a difference between documenting an execution for accountability and broadcasting it as a spectacle. Which is what this is.
When footage is accompanied by sensational commentary, audience reactions, repeated clips, or social-media engagement metrics, the plot has been lost. This will cause emotional distancing from the reality of death.
The use of shocking material to attract attention and engagement is already an issue and this will take it up a notch. Slippery slope. Not to mention our youth. I could go on and on. I don’t care how they execute them to be honest I do care about the effects on society and the ppl broadcasting it.
