I wasn't around during apartheid but there was a time when the SABC was replaying series from that era. One series stood out to me, Saartjie, a drama about a little Boer girl in a South Africa where natives didn't seem to exist. At least none of the episodes I saw had any person of colour in it. I remember thinking that was probably how they programmed white people so they didn't see a problem with the dispossession of the natives and their lands. It was a South Africa where they didn't exist.

I grew up 80s and 90s. It was in the schools, the churches, the youth movements. I lived it. You won't see it, unless you were brought up to question and think for yourself.
