Kelly Clarkson accused a Brooklyn store of making her feel judged as a customer. Now, the business is telling its side of the story—and the disagreement has attracted millions of views online. The singer recently visited Art of Play, hoping to purchase a unique singing and dancing bird automaton named Molly. But Clarkson claimed the employees treated her as though she couldn’t afford the item and offered to find something comparable instead. Upset by the experience, Clarkson took to X and compared the treatment to Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman. She also warned that the store had lost a major sale. Her post reportedly attracted more than 32 million views and thousands of reposts. But Art of Play pushed back against her account. In a statement on Instagram, the store explained that Molly was a one-of-a-kind piece used in its magic shows. The automaton was permanently attached to the wall and was never available for purchase. Still, the business acknowledged that Clarkson’s description of feeling judged in a store was something many customers could relate to. The store also said it was stunned when millions of people who had never visited suddenly began criticizing the small business. Negative reviews soon appeared on Yelp, with some users repeating Clarkson’s complaints. The business ended its response with a reference to Clarkson’s hit song “Stronger,” writing, “What doesn’t k\*ll you makes you stronger.” Two very different accounts, one viral post, and a small business suddenly facing a wave of public scrutiny. Do you think the store handled its response well, or should it have done more to address Clarkson’s complaint? \#KellyClarkson #PrettyWoman #CelebrityNews #ViralDrama #brooklynstore
