@brightonargus: A business owner has defended the frontage of her award-winning salon after it was branded an "alien and poor quality addition" to the high street by council officers. Louisa Anderson, who owns LA Hair, Beauty and Skin in Shoreham, recently spent £40,000 on refurbishing the business, including installing white faux-stone cladding on the front and side of the premises. But after applying for retrospective permission for the change, Adur District Council officers have recommended the cladding be refused planning permission, with a heritage consultant deeming it to be "incongruous" with the local street scene and conservation area. Ms Anderson has set up a petition aiming to stop the council removing the cladding, arguing that it would "threaten the livelihood" of her business. #news #planning
