The United states actually does recognizes veterans and military families during two separate full months. May is National Military Appreciation Month and November is National Veterans & Military. My dad who was a proud ex-Marine would celebrate every year til his death from cancer in 2019.

I do not understand the connection being made here. Did LGBTQ folks advocate against veterans getting full recognition? Probably the solution is focusing on getting more recognition for vets instead of questioning why an historically oppressed group gets an entire month. The two issues are non zero sum.
