This happened 7+ years ago. She had some issues and a few seizures, but she is very alive, and doing well and off all medications.

Resolution: The family and the Houston Astros reached a confidential legal settlement in August 2021, and the incident prompted Major League Baseball to mandate extended protective netting across all ballparks.

I believe this is why most ball park nets extended into the outfield.

This almost happened to my friends toddler at a local game a few years ago. She moved him to go get some food and not 5 seconds after picking him up a ball cracked his seat 😭 it still sends chills down my spine. A helmet would not have protected him.

I played 3rd base for YEARS!! Made it to A ball. Only a year……played division 1 Softball after. Saying that I’ve seen shots a well around 115 mph!! I ALWAYS pay attention AND wear a glove when I’m watching a ball game. The funny thing is for a long time I caught shit for it. A 40 year old man wearing a glove……….no one laughs anymore……..

“Why wasn’t he paying attention” dog you think the average person 1. Has the reaction time at that angle? 2. Can do anything with a ball going that fast? 3. What does it matter what happened happened.

Can’t imagine foul balls that’s traveling around 100’s of mph could hurt someone…who knew. Same with hockey and nascar

this still destroys the batter to this day. A man that has his own kids wouldn't be able to let that situation go that easy
A week before at Wrigley Field, same player hit a rocket of a foul ball to the first base side. Man lost his eye. The instance with the little girl was the final reason MLB made everyone extend the netting behind home plate almost fully down the line.

This is actually a good idea. What most people don’t know is that the viewer is totally responsible for any and all medical bills related to getting hit by a foul ball because insurance states in the lost states that they accept the responsibility of risk when they buy a ticket and seats. I’m sure that any ball team would absolutely pitch in and make it right because it’s the right thing to do. However, wearing a helmet is the right thing to do as well.
