@crowderclipshq: During an interview on The Iced Coffee Hour, conservative commentator Steven Crowder recounted formative childhood experiences in the classroom, explaining how encounters with progressive teachers unexpectedly solidified his conservative worldview. Crowder highlighted two specific incidents: a drama teacher advocating for returning all territory to Native Americans, and a second instructor urging unilateral American nuclear disarmament based on the hope that rival nations would reciprocate. This reflection illustrates an analytical perspective common among conservative commentators who point out how progressive classroom advocacy often unravels when subjected to basic historical and geopolitical reality. The narrative detailed a sharp contrast between idealistic political slogans and practical historical facts. When his teacher demanded land redistribution, young Crowder questioned which specific tribe should receive the territory, citing regional conflicts between the Algonquin and Iroquois to expose the impracticality of treating indigenous history as a monolith a question dismissed by the teacher as merely "right-wing". Crowder applied identical scrutiny to the disarmament debate, pointing out that having the United States dismantle its nuclear arsenal without binding enforcement mechanisms naively assumes adversaries like Russia and China would follow suit, rather than exploiting a power vacuum. Political analysts often highlight these early encounters to demonstrate how ideological teaching in public schools can inadvertently foster conservative skepticism among inquisitive students.

Took a political test in 8th grade during the Obama/McCain election. Turned out I agreed more with McCain than I did Obama. Went home and told my mom. She slapped me across the face. Been right wing since.

In 7th grade, my homeroom/history teacher decided we were old enough to learn about the political machine and voting. This was during the Obama and McCain campaign. He told us for the next week to research both candidates and the following week we would cast our ballots in class. I grew up in inner city Cleveland to a poor family and had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. My brother even did a video campaign of Obama for his Video Product class that our whole family participated in a couple months earlier. Before I even told my parents, I did extensive research on both candidates policies. I was confused as to why my family leaned towards Obama instead of McCain. The night before, I sat my parents down at the dinner table and lightly debated them and they just looked at eachother and couldn’t combat 80% of the points I would bring up, but I would with every one of theirs. My stepdad ended it with “we’re a Puerto Rican and mixed family living in the city, we vote Blue”.. that kept me up at night. The next day I went to school and we casted our ballots. Out of 20 kids in the class, only myself and one other kid voted for McCain. The teacher asked us to raise our hands if we voted for Obama and the whole room raised their hands. One by one, their reasoning was “because he’s black and we’ve never had a black president”. When he asked me and that one other kid why McCain, we went into policy. All the kids called up racist and ostracized us.. that was the very beginning and I will never forget it. That was my red pill.

The big five, largest federally recognized tribes are part of the reason smaller tribes can't receive federal recognition. They actively legislate against the smaller tribes because it would cut into their federal funding.

I grew up in a Conservative household, then I became an adult and got active in my community. Opened my eyes to how much Conservative driven Capitalism fails so many. I’m fully progressive now

I get the first story bc it seems to me it’s clear the teacher had no analysis of the situation or didn’t think abt anything. But for the 2nd situation I don’t think it makes much sense to turn conservative simply bc a teacher didn’t think things all the way thru and instead thought abt what is best for humanity. In that scenario, every country would agree to disarm and most likely have watch dogs ensure that happens, the US wouldn’t just disarm tmr. And there have been agreements in the past to disarm. I also don’t trust these stories, and they seem very weak to begin with. And it assumes ppl on the left all think this way which isn’t really true

I would only push back on the disarmament part because Russia and China have nukes for the same logic because we have them and no one has any intention of using them because of the consequences eventually someone has to take the first step even if it’s just getting the big three together and saying “yall know the MAD system is completely insane right?”

I was left of Bernie, living in a sheltered neighborhood, never had a real problem. Socialist, no guns, eat the rich, all that. Then we had to move and were not in a good neighborhood anymore. Dudes started rolling by our house at all hours so I went and bought my first firearm to defend ourselves. I've gone full 180 since.

I’m so glad I had amazing teachers that stuck to teaching only! They taught me how to critically think. Best gift ever. I didn’t know what their political beliefs were.

In a true disarmament scenario, there would be an agreement and everyone would do it, otherwise it would be useless.
