@faiz.recitals: Faiz Ahmad Faiz (1911-1984) was one of Pakistan's most renowned 20th-century Urdu poets, journalists, and political activists, celebrated for blending traditional romantic poetry with themes of social justice, resistance, and revolution. Born on February 13, 1911, in Sialkot, he came from a scholarly and literary family and earned master's degrees in English Literature and Arabic from institutions in Lahore. He served in the British Indian Army during World War II, eventually attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, before resigning in 1947 and pursuing a career as a newspaper editor and cultural figure. In 1951, he was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Rawalpindi Conspiracy Case and spent four years in prison, where he produced some of his most powerful poetry. As a prominent figure in the Progressive Writers' Movement, Faiz used his poetry to express both the anguish of love and the struggle against oppression, championing workers, human rights, and social equality.
