Stevie :
Events that are based around remembering a set of tragic events tend to be one day: remembrance Sunday, Holocaust memorial day, Trans day of remembrance, etc.
Month long events are more about the continued struggles of communities that don't enjoy the same level of inclusion and are about celebrating, reflecting and protesting as part of their ongoing journey.
A month long veteran month would be good to raise awareness of mental heath issues veterans can face, homelessness, the sacrifices people have made, teaching folk about key points in history, recognising families of service folk, raising money for veterans charities, promoting career choices in the services, etc. It could be really good, *but* it carries a risk that certain individuals would use it to fuel nationalism or celebrate war and military dominance. I can think of several politicians who would use it to further their own agenda and have tanks and missiles rolling down the street to show off military prowess. So, great idea, but needs careful positioning in the execution
