@thequidsquid: We spent just £80 on our baby this month. Here's how we managed it. 👶 George is officially two months old, and after spending £4,230 before and during his first month, we're tracking every penny to see how much having a baby really costs. 💷 This month was surprisingly cheap! Just £80 on equipment, milk, nappies, wipes, snacks for mum and even the extra washing machine cycles. 🛍️ One of our biggest wins was buying a Rockit baby rocker second-hand on Vinted for £20, roughly half what we'd have paid buying new! 🍼 Luckily, we bought most of the expensive equipment before George arrived, meaning our ongoing costs are currently pretty manageable. 👕 Although he's growing ridiculously quickly, so I have a feeling the next few months might be a different story! 📊 Our total spending has now reached £4,310, although gifts and hand-me-downs have helped us save a significant amount of our own money. 💬 Parents, what's your best money-saving tip for raising kids? Let me know below, and follow for next month's breakdown! #PersonalFinance #financialeducation #babycosts #parentingtips #familybudget

Babies aren’t expensive parents just buy unnecessary things. Older children are expensive. When they’re that young they only need baby grows and jumpers, buggy suit or snow suit if your in cold areas.

Expect to pay out roughly £3k for standard Primary School, £5k for Secondary School, £5k for Sixth Form this includes uniforms, clothes and local, national and international trips, uni open days, driving lessons are currently £80 for 2 hours so budget £2k for that. Then you have extra curriculars if they start competing then a couple of £1000 a year for subs, travel and insurance.

Are you not factoring in loss of earnings? By a country mile that was our biggest expense of the preschool years. The 3/4 months off for my husband post birth, and I took about 18 months off per kid, and we both went part time when I went back to work after each kid (although now both our kids are in school my husband is full time again).

I’m due my second baby boy next month and I’ve spent £275. For that I bought a travel system, and was giving a brand new car seat for free. I had £120 worth of boots points and used it to buy a joie 360 spin car seat for when he’s older. I bought clothes up to 12-18 months, steriliser, bottles, maternity and everything postpartum all from Vinted and charity shops and used boot points. It’s as cheap as you really want to make it

Transfer onto mamia baby formula from Aldi if you can! And the little pre made bottles are so expensive. All clothes second hand you can get bundles for so cheap. Same with toys when he starts getting into them!
