@kymillmanf1: Fans in Singapore experienced massive delays getting into the track during the Grand Prix weekend as extensive security checks created queues of up to a kilometre, waiting in hazy and humid conditions. #f1 #formula1 #SingaporeGP
Gate 4 leads into the Padang stage where people queued up early to see Zara or Lana but also doesn’t help that there’s people wanting to get a good spot if they’re on a walkabout ticket.

I think that context is important too. 1. Gate 4 leads to Zone 4 which is the “most accessible zone” as basically all ticket types could enter and it’s closest to the Padang stage so concert goers would all queue there to rush to the stage to get their spot. I entered through the gate at Zone 1 and the queue wasn’t as bad. 2. On Sundays is when all the big celebrities and even ministers and foreign political members would be attending too, its natural to have a heightened security stance from the organisers. All in all I think that it was still well organised. If you were in a long queue, you probably had a reason to be there early which isn’t to watch the race, same as the people in the queue with you!

With this massive number of people, Singapore won't slack on security. The attendees safety is also a top priority. I'm glad they are vy thorough with checks. We had threats before and with the recent attack in Saudi, we can't be complacent.

Because F1 is a huge event, it could be a possible terrorist target. So that’s why there are intense security checks in addition to other measures.

I just spent $1000s of dollars for tickets to a race next year. Service that promoters provide MUST improve. What is F1 doing about this?

i think it is perfectly right to do so. no compromise on safety. do you want to end up in hospital in a bomb blast? or going home happy safe affer the race?
