@americancrimetruecrime: ‼️FL VS LEIGHA MUMBY| JURY SELECTION BEGINS True Crime Community, we need your voices and your prayers today--- After SEVEN long continuances and over a year of painful delays, the vehicular homicide trial of Leigha Catherine Marie Mumby, 25, is finally beginning today, October 12, 2026, at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center with jury selection A pool of 60 prospective jurors are being screened today with the defense expected to heavily audit potential jurors' social media accounts because of the online outcry for Daniel My heart is completely with the family of Daniel Waterman as they prepare to face the woman who took Daniel's future They traveled from New York to be there, to be his voice If you have been following my page, or the family's story you know that Daniel did something miraculous before he passed He briefly woke up from a months-long coma and used a letter communication board to tell investigators exactly what happened He spelled out that Mumby intentionally crashed the car to punish him, telling him right before impact- "I don't care what happens. You'll get what you deserve." But in a devastating pre-trial ruling, Circuit Judge Dawn Nichols ruled that the jury will NEVER hear Daniel's words. Because Daniel passed away, the defense successfully argued his letter-board statements were "hearsay" because he can't be cross-examined. To me , this is unfair. Daniel communicated TO AND AROUND AUTHORITIES. The family DID NOT just make this up on there own This ruling forced prosecutors to drop the aggravated battery charge Leigha held I'm including an example of the letter board Daniel used and a message from Daniel's Aunt to me, explaining how he would use this to communicate in the photos below The judge also excluded information involving Leighas personal life from the trial - I made a post about this and it was REPORTED AND REMOVED in two days--- GUESS BY WHO I feel the images of Leigha offering the breast milk of Daniel's daughter, among others, not even 2 months after his death, on "certain websites" , SHOULD BE SHOWN The state is now proceeding on charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving They don’t have to prove she intended to kill him; they just have to prove her reckless, 95-mph actions caused his death The defense is already trying to claim she has "no memory" of the crash—but the vehicle’s black box data doesn't lie The cruelty in this case runs so much deeper than the crash, the baby girl mentioned above, was born just three days after Daniel died- He never even got to meet her The family is not only fighting for justice in his death but are actively pursuing paternity and custody within the courts While Mumby has been walking free on a $150,000 bond, and a total of 37 minutes in jail , Daniel’s grieving family has never been allowed to see or hold, Daniel’s daughter Daniel's voice was silenced by the court's evidentiary rules, so we must be his voice now His family has endured endless delays, scheduling changes, and heartbreak. Following a heated argument, black box data shows Mumby slammed her foot onto the gas—reaching speeds of 93 to 95 mph—and deliberately accelerated straight into a tree without ever hitting the brakes Daniel suffered catastrophic injuries.
