@siajh: One important lesson I’ve learnt from my mentor, @Teacher Lu Xia, is the importance of understanding our role and positioning in the workplace. Regardless of how close a client may appear to be to our superior, our responsibility as staff remains the same: fulfil our duties according to our role and the instructions we’ve been given. A common mistake people make is assuming that because someone has a close personal relationship with their boss, they should automatically receive preferential treatment — even when no such instructions have been given. But that’s not our decision to make. We shouldn’t allow our assumptions about personal relationships to influence how we carry out our professional responsibilities. Know your role.
