@dr.lindaxing: A growing pink bump is every dermatologist’s nightmare 🥵 Sometimes it’s impossible to tell them apart without a biopsy. 1. Angioma (cherry angioma) 🍒 A small, harmless red bump made of tiny blood vessels. It’s very common with age and only needs treatment if it bleeds or bothers you. 2. Atypical Fibroxanthoma (AFX) ☀️ A fast-growing pink or red skin cancer, usually on sun-damaged skin of the head and neck. It rarely spreads but can be tricky to surgically remove completely. 3. Amelanotic Melanoma 🔍 A rare form of melanoma with little or no dark colour, so it can look pink or skin-toned. I’ve operated on a handful of these each year and it’s always terrible breaking the news to the patients. Remember the red flags: 🚩bleeding 🚩rapid growth 🚩pain Get any new or changing spot checked, even if it isn’t dark.
