The moon is orbiting the sun and the Earth is interfering with it.

But, it takes about 29 and 1/2 days to go from New Moon to New Moon (synodic month).

The moon is like a tennis ball if we assume the earth is the size of a basketball.

The moon orbits the sun but I only know that from the MinutePhysics video which shows the moons orbit from the suns reference frame.

Rhett but the orbits are sineusoidal through space?

It depends on how we define orbiting. I think objects move through space because of gravity and other forces, and there’s no such thing as a perfectly clear definition of an orbit, so we should define what we mean by it. But I’ve heard this question before. I don’t know exactly how it works, but apparently, the Moon orbits the Earth, not the Sun.
As for the sizes, I think the Moon would be about the size of an apple, and the Sun would be a sphere with a radius about the height of a three-story apartment building.

Moon orbits both the Earth and the Sun. Relative to the Sun the Moon is always moving in the same orbital direction, just it speeds up and slows down.

The moon orbits earth as it's mainly influenced by the gravitational pull of the earth. And size wise if earth was a basketball then the moon would be a tennis ball and the sun would be those human sized bouncing ball I think, and if we have to draw the motion path for the orbits of earth and moon I think the moon would have a spring shaped path as it's moving in circle around the earth but the earth is also moving within it's orbit so that circle path never closes and continues in a spiral path that extend throughout Earth's orbit

It's both. The moon orbits the earth, the pair orbit the sun, which orbits the galaxy, which orbits the barycenter with Andromeda.

The moon is a moon because it’s not orbiting the sun but the earth

The moons orbit around the sun is everywhere convex.

If earth were a basketball then the sun would be about 26 metres across and the moon about 6-7cm.

The moon is in a direct orbit around the Sun while being gravitationally bound to the Earth.

but I always understood the moon went around the sun just slightly displaced every so often by the earth..

There's no absolute frame of reference, so you can frame it any of those ways and it'll work.
The most intuitive one is probably the heliocentric reference frame, that's what you'd put in a textbook.

In the geocentric frame, the moon orbits the earth.
In the heliocentric frame, the moon orbits the sun with the earth's effect being a periodic perturbation that causes the moon to weave in/out of the Earth's orbital path.
If the sun was a basketball, I think the moon would be about half a millimetre across? So maybe a grain of sand?
I'd draw it very out of scale - as you have here.
