@nicolettehill: Are we watching #Carrie on #AmazonPrime ? And if so, how do you feel about the lead actress? I understand that she is not book accurate, but I think #mikeflanagan saw something special in her— and she is KNOCKING it out of the park for me. #carrietvshow
I wasn’t excited or necessarily thrilled with the choice when I first saw the casting, but after I started watching it…. I get it and I love it and I think this show was so well done! I’m about to rewatch it

I do hold Carrie dear to me (as well as more so the hunger games) and I loved it, my only gripes were that Margaret was kind and not as crazy evil as the books and they didn’t really go into carries religious trauma because that is oh so important, but everything else was great and I absolutely ate up this show

One of my Mandela effects is that I read Carrie in high school and I SWEAR she wasn't fat.

I think if they were continuing the trend of bullying her for her looks then it would be important but they seem to be more bullying her for her neurodivergence and difference.

love that it is modernized and tbf I don't think they have ever cast Carrie right if people are going to be it on her not being chunky. the show is portraying bullying accurately to modern day bs. I'm debating on showing my teen girls this show as to why I say be nice to everyone but I need to finish this series before I decide if it's safe to show my kids

I’m loving the interpretation of Emmaline being a Tyler Durden devil on the shoulder to show her darker thoughts and intentions.

It’s not that big of a deal but I think it shows maybe the don’t respect mid size actors or their audience ofcourse .ive seen people say the actor might get bullied or there isn’t many bigger actors but Carrie is only a bit cubby like a medium or large and this is often over looked in media so why not add diversity when is already there . That being said she doesn’t also give greasy unwashed or a religious zealot so… I feel like part of the book is your are like the town in both feeling sad for her but also being annoyed by her none of the adaption have captured this feeling so far

This is one of my favorite books, and I don’t know what they’re gonna do with the whole pigs’ blood thing. It makes sense if she’s either in a larger body or not conventionally attractive. They have to twist in a different direction at the climax.

If she was being bullied for her looks like she was in other versions then yes it would be a poor casting choice. But she isn't, she is a representation of how lack of socialization leaves people vunerable and how abuse isn't always physical at home so no her looks are not important for this Carrie
