Let me tell you something. There was a time when only a handful of people dared to question what everyone else believed. For centuries, people believed the Earth stood still at the center, while the heavens moved around it. Then came Copernicus. He proposed something dangerous: What if the Earth is the one moving? Later, Galileo used a telescope to observe the heavens and found evidence that challenged the old picture of the universe. And what did humanity do? Did everyone calmly say, “Perhaps we have discovered something new”? No. People argued. Institutions resisted. Galileo was condemned by the Roman Catholic Church and forced to recant his support for heliocentrism. And here is the part I find interesting. Many believed they were defending God. But think carefully. If God is truly God, why would the truth threaten Him? If He created the universe, would discovering that the Earth moves somehow defeat Him? No. What they were defending was not necessarily God. They were defending their understanding of God. Heh. That is the danger of certainty. A man discovers one piece of Heaven and begins believing he possesses the whole of it. Then someone else comes along and says, “You may be wrong.” And suddenly, the questioner becomes the enemy. But I say this— If your God is afraid of the truth, then He is not my God. If Heaven is real, then I will not make my dreams smaller to fit inside the limits of another man's understanding. I will look further. I will question more. I will seek what lies beyond what humanity has already discovered. Because if God truly created the heavens... then why should I be satisfied with merely looking at the sky? I want to understand the stars. I want to understand the universe. And if there is something beyond the universe— then I want to know that too. Dream bigger. Seek further. Do not worship your own limitations and call them faith. Perhaps the greatest way to honor a truly infinite God... is to have the courage to keep searching for a truth greater than anything you have understood before.
