Did a doctor tell Lindsay Clancy to say she heard voices? That question came up in Day 12 testimony, and it definitely caught my attention. During cross-examination, the defense questioned Massachusetts State Police investigator Daniel Lawlor about a theory investigators had discussed — that a psychologist may have prompted Lindsay to tell Patrick that she heard voices. Lawlor ultimately acknowledged there was no investigative basis proving that actually happened. And I think that distinction matters. The fact that investigators discussed the possibility does not mean Lindsay was coached. But it does raise a fair question about timing: When did Lindsay first report hearing the male voice, who did she tell first, and what had happened immediately before that claim was made? The alleged command hallucination is a huge part of the defense’s explanation for what happened that day, so I think the origin and timing of that statement deserve scrutiny. I have said this throughout the trial: I do not question that Lindsay was struggling with serious mental-health issues. What I am still waiting to see is the evidence that proves she was psychotic at the time she killed her children. And honestly, I am also still waiting on the prosecution to give me a convincing why. So far, I have not been impressed with their presentation or with the facts they have offered as motive. Statements about struggling to bond with a baby or describing a child as difficult may show stress or emotional struggle, but for me, they do not explain why a mother would kill all three of her children. Maybe the prosecution has more coming. Maybe the expert testimony will connect the dots for the defense. But at this point, I still feel like we have a lot of evidence about what happened and not nearly enough about why it happened or what Lindsay’s mental state actually was at the time. What did you make of today’s testimony — and do you think the prosecution has established a believable motive yet? Mortgage by day. True crime nerd by night. One pays the bills… the other feeds my curiosity. Both keep me up at night. 😂 And yes — when I’m not buried in courtroom testimony, I really do help people buy and finance homes. 🏡 mortgagewithmisti.com #LindsayClancy #LindsayClancyTrial #TrueCrime #CourtroomCoverage
