@eastora.news: Volodymyr Zelensky says give Ukraine 60 days without Russian attacks and it can hold a presidential election. The Kremlin’s counteroffer is much narrower: one day. Moscow rejected Zelensky’s proposal for a full 60-day ceasefire. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Vladimir Putin would instead be prepared to halt strikes on Ukraine on election day if Kyiv “genuinely wants to hold an election.” Peskov said Kyiv wanted the longer pause “to regroup, heal its wounds and continue the war,” adding that the Kremlin wanted a long-term peace agreement rather than another temporary truce. “In reality, Kyiv has no desire to hold elections; that is perfectly obvious,” Peskov said. Zelensky had told ABC a day earlier that Ukraine was ready to organise a presidential vote if Russia agreed to a complete 60-day ceasefire. Ukrainian law currently bars presidential elections while martial law remains in force. The argument over elections has grown sharper since U.S. President Donald Trump said Ukraine should choose a new president and accused Zelensky of passing up earlier chances to make a deal with Moscow. For now, Kyiv is asking for 60 days without Russian attacks to hold an election. Moscow is offering one: election day itself.
