Make sure Monte Cristo isn’t an abridged edition! It looks way too small haha

Please get the unabridged version of Count of Monte Cristo! It’s way longer, but definitely worth it. I have the Wordsworth edition and I enjoy the historical notes it has and the glossary is fun to read as well! 💗

east of eden obviously!! the rest of them are ‘harder’ to read and keep going maybe bcs they’re russian and french literature, while east of eden is american (based on my experience), sooo east of eden is a good start 🤩💪🏼

1) pretty good, great prose w/ some serious plot issues 2) boring/vastly overrated 3) pretty good points + great prose - but overrated

Soupcan :
@Soupcan: Monte cristo reads kind of like a teenagers adventure. Not bad but not great. East of Eden feels like it asks some more interesting questions about nature vs nurture. Both have poorly written female characters but that’s just a reflection of their times
