i watched this film last year and loved it but thought that it was such a shame that it was in the condition it was in. i have been so excited ever since the restoration was announced!

The script is very powerful on its own, and the performance and visuals are crazy and striking.

So many movies that came out in the 60’s and 70’s get labeled as “controversial”, and then you watch them now and feel underwhelmed by that labeling because, for modern standards, they usually don’t end up feeling that controversial. However, after recently watching The Devils, the feeling of “holy s**t I can’t believe they made something like this in the 70’s!!” was all I felt while watching it and I was kind of blown away. It is a masterpiece, and in 2026 it still felt like a movie that I shouldn’t be watching; which is crazy.
