@dailyai.uk: Fans of The Rookie have exciting news to celebrate as the hit police drama expands its cast and prepares for a major crossover with its upcoming spinoff, The Rookie: North. At New York Comic Con, creator Alexi Hawley confirmed that Nathan Fillion, Melissa O’Neil, and Eric Winter will appear in crossover roles on the new Washington-set series. Fillion’s John Nolan was already featured in a preview clip during a FaceTime call with Jay Ellis’s character. Hawley teased that more familiar faces would join the spinoff throughout the season. But the casting surprises didn’t end there. Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario and Psych actor Dulé Hill are joining season 9 of the original series in guest roles. Bellisario will play Stevie, a new LAPD rookie who is also a single mother of two rebuilding her life after a painful divorce. Her character brings a different perspective to the rookie experience, since she is not starting over with a completely blank slate. Hill, meanwhile, will portray a new watch commander. Hawley hinted that the character will have some complications of his own, leaving fans curious about what lies ahead. The announcements have added even more anticipation to the franchise’s next chapter. Both The Rookie season 9 and the premiere of The Rookie: North are scheduled for January 6, 2027. With familiar faces returning and fresh characters entering the story, the next season could bring some major changes to the The Rookie universe.
