It reads the note first, every time. 👇 READ BELOW What it is: CLAUDE.md is a plain text file that sits in your project, and Claude Code (the AI helper that works inside your project) reads it before anything else. How to use it: 1. Open your project in Claude Code. 2. Type /init and it writes a starter note for you. 3. Add your house rules. Mine says not to touch my other project's server, and passwords stay in the keychain, which is where your computer safely stores them. 4. Keep it short, a page or less. Why it matters: You stop repeating yourself every session. The rules you care about are already in front of Claude before you type a word.
