Genuine question, what about situations where one partner with ADHD is so disabled by ADHD that reflecting on conversations (both in the moment and afterwards and again later on if the topic comes back up) AND remembering (and being able to process fast enough) to ask clarifying questions in (or even after) a conversation, isn’t possible?? Like, they seem to be trying, but it just simply isn’t working…and we all know how long therapy and finding the right meds can take. What is the other AuDHD partner supposed to do while “they wait”??? Im severely stuck and feeling incredibly burnt out, frustrated, and confused.

This is huge and I think people don’t realize how different each neurodivergent person can be. Both my spouse and I are AuDHD, but he responds more autistically, and I more ADHD like. ADHD meds work for him while I have to depend on coffee or my brain is bouncing off rafters. It’s so weird.

Well, I got some kind of cheat code here... I married a speech therapist, who is NT, but act a lot like an autistic person, and knows well ND struggles and needs since she has a lot of our kind as patients. I am lucky, as an AuDHDer, to be with someone who is so understanding... and I know it could be challenging sometimes...
