@starwalkapp: The Taurid meteors are about to light up October nights 🌠 The Southern Taurids reach their early peak around October 12–13, bringing a small but distinctive meteor show of up to around 5 meteors per hour. The Taurids are famous for their slow, bright meteors and occasional spectacular fireballs. The shower is visible from both hemispheres, and this year the waxing crescent Moon shouldn’t interfere much with the view. The Southern Taurids come from debris left behind by Comet 2P/Encke, whose relatively large particles can create those especially bright streaks. And this is only the first show: the Southern Taurids reach their main peak on November 4–5. Would you rather see dozens of faint meteors or one huge Taurid fireball? ☄️ #meteor #taurids #meteorshower #meteors #starwalk
