Do not follow this advise as cars can have longer front or backs and wing mirror positioning won’t account for that. Use your eyes to judge and not just a reflection in a mirror.

This is not correct according to every defensive driving course I ever took. The side mirrors are supposed to cover your blind spots. They need to be adjusted farther out for that—you are NOT supposed to see your own car in them.

There’s no need to see your car body. Angle your mirrors just outside the car body (you know where you are already!) to maximize the view of the traffic on each side of the car.

My driving instructor told me to set the right-side mirror in a way i could see the back wheel to help with parking, but also by doing so i can't see much of cars behind me on that side, so now i have conflicting information.

There is another way to adjust mirrors to eliminate the blond spot. You shouldn't be able to see the side of your car at all if correctly adjusted this way
