@oseyifunmii: Sometimes, it is better to be a DOG that people approach with caution because they know you won’t tolerate disrespect than to be a DONKEY that everybody feels entitled to ride anyhow. There is a difference between being humble and allowing people to take you for granted. Being kind doesn’t mean you should be available for every nonsense, and being peaceful doesn’t mean you should tolerate disrespect. Let people know that you have a good heart, but also let them understand that you have boundaries. You can be loving without being foolish, respectful without being a pushover, and accommodating without sacrificing your self-respect. Never be so desperate to be liked by everybody that you forget to command respect. Sometimes, the moment you start setting boundaries, people will call you proud, difficult, or wicked. Let them talk!
