@sambentley: This is a computer mouse for your tongue! It's called the MouthPad developed by Augmental, and it's giving people who can't use their hands a way to control a phone, a tablet, or a computer. It was built in San Francisco by an engineer called Tomas Vega, who set out to make technology more accessible, especially for those living with quadriplegia. Each one is custom made to fit snugly over the upper teeth. A tiny pressure-sensitive trackpad sits against the roof of the mouth, and the user moves the cursor with their tongue. A tilt of the head moves around the screen, and a press of the tongue acts as a click. There's even a menu that pops up with a single gesture, turning something like copy and paste into one simple move. And the best part is that no surgery is needed. Tech like this usually means a brain implant. This just sits in your mouth, and comes out whenever you like. For the people using it, that changes everything. One user started university with the device, and is now finishing a degree in mathematics. Another said it freed him from a computer setup built around his wheelchair, so he can now work from the comfort of his bed. Would you like to see more support for devices like this? #goodnews #technology #tiktokforgood

This makes me cry. I'm quite severely disabled and being able to use devices (& play computer games) is the one thing that has saved my sanity & given me quality of life while physically limited + forced to spend almost all of my time laying down in bed. I'm lucky enough to be able to use my hands but for people who have little or no hand mobility this could be incredible. It sounds so easy to use! I hope it's accessible to many people.

it would be lovely if it could be adapted to video games as well. games would have to be simple at first when starting adaptations, but i imagine that slow paced games would be able to be enjoyed when they simply couldn't before.
