@kantanhq: 5 things to ALWAYS remove from your resume. 1. Fancy designs and complicated formatting. Tables, text boxes, multiple columns, and graphics can interfere with how some Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) read and organize your resume. Stick with a clean, single-column format, standard headings, and simple bullet points to avoid potential parsing issues. 2. Older, irrelevant work experience. If you have 15–20+ years of experience, you don’t need to include every job you’ve held. Focus on your most recent and relevant roles. Remove or shorten older positions that don’t add value so you have more space to highlight your relevant experience and accomplishments. 3. Generic, AI-sounding buzzwords. Remove words like “boost,” “championed,” “complex,” “robust,” and “spearheaded” from your resume. These words frequently appear in AI generated content and can make your resume sound generic and impersonal. Use clear, natural language that describes your experience instead. 4. A photo. If you’re applying for jobs in the U.S., leave your photo off your resume. It’s generally not expected and can introduce unnecessary bias. If recruiters want to see your photo, they can visit your LinkedIn profile. 5. An objective statement. Your objective is to get a job. Replace this with a short professional summary highlighting your level and experience are the right fit. ✅ Want to know what you SHOULD include on your resume instead? ✅Comment CHECKLIST and I’ll send you my FREE resume checklist to help write a resumes that quickly shows what employers are looking for. #resumehelp #jobhunting #resumeadvice #resumetips #resumetemplate

If older work experience is somehow now “irrelevant” after 15 to 20 years… does that mean degrees and advance degrees also become irrelevant after that time period? If not, why not? Or is the reality… that we remove older experience to try and avoid the horrendous amount of ageism going on in the corporate world? Because to my mind, everything you learn is valuable and cumulative, and you carry it forward to your next experience.
