Hurricane Andrew was my first time experiencing a tornado, I was 8 and it was Friday night. Tornadoes didn't happen in SC like that. TGIF had just went off and my parents were getting us ready for bed when we all of a sudden heard a lot of wind and what sounded like a train. I was so scared, I'd never heard anything like that before, it was so LOUD and like right on top of us. When we went outside the next morning, our neighborhood was a wreck. Trees were down, power was out, parts of houses and sheds were scattered everywhere. To this day, tornados are still one of the top 3 scariest natural disasters for me.

it was 1 of my 1st memories, it sounded like a train and I was peeking thru the shutters at a neighbor's trash can flying and watching the powerlines tie themselves in knots

As a child, it sounded like the devil was screaming at us from the outside. First hurricane in my memory and definitely the worst.

I grew up on the west coast in Florida and I remember all of my friends going over to the east coast to rebuild. It was so bad.

I grew up in keys largo. on cards sound road, just south of ocean reef. my mom and my 2 siblings and I. went to my grandmothers in orlando. my dad stayed with the dogs. he said, it it was one of the scariest nights of his life. i remember. coming home off the last exit into florida city. being stuck in that traffic for hours. just seeing all the damage and destruction of homestead. i was 10. and I will never forget it.

I remember like it was yesterday. Terrifying it was. And watching my livestock go through it was next level as well. It was amazing to see them deal with Mother Nature. God kept them all safe.

i was in my early 20s and near Downtown Miami. ill never forget how freaking scared i was during and how rough the aftermath was. Imagine.. we simply taped our windows and bought beer and chips for supplies. 😱
