@blitzphd: So this video was literally inspired by these well-defined clouds, which are pretty atypical (but not unheard of) for Phoenix. #physics #clouds #thermodynamics #explained
what I really want to know is how the hell so much water can just float in the sky like that.

i allways find it so beautiful how comapritevly simple rules result in such intresing complex processes

Sorry Blitz, you obviously didn’t do enough research. Clouds get their shape from Square Cloud Guy and his psychokinesis 😝

Oh so that’s why clouds have flat bottoms, because of the water vapor in the updraft condensing at a fixed elevation?

I did wonder about a completely different thing that you’ve just answered - why do airplanes seem to experience small but noticeably larger turbulence relative to an otherwise smooth flight. Suddenly seems obvious if clouds are turbulent by their nature

I’ve heard that in less populated areas clouds are usually puffier because there’s less air pollution, no clue if it’s true though

Didn't realize a simple cloud was that complex. Little bit wordy.

I knew all of these principles from high school/college, but I never realized how the process combined them all. Sort of just assumed they were static even though in hindsight that obviously can’t be the case.
