Being the mom to this type daughter has its own emotions. Being the mom to this daughter is being so sad and scared that she wants to leave, that cries every time the plane flies away. It’s the silence in the moments when you walk through her room and wonder if the things you did right outweigh the things that you totally messed up on. It’s the racing heart rate when the phone rings her tone, at an awkward time, but quick relief when she says hey mom, I just wanted to talk. It’s the emptiness when it’s time to put up the Christmas tree so you just wait for her return so you can still feel the magic. Being a mom to this type of daughter feels so amazing, because she’s doing everything you didn’t get to do, she blows you away every day at her ability to take on this big world by herself. It feels like huge respect and honor. It makes our hearts so proud of you and how you are doing your thing in this crazy thing that’s called life. It feels so good when you come home and we sleep a lot better when you are under our roof, but when it’s time to go, we know we can not hold you back because your wings are bigger and stronger than ours ever were and through the tears we smile.
