The group has long fought Yemen’s internationally recognized government, backed by Saudi Arabia. The latest attacks come amid an escalation in fighting, opening another front in the wider conflict involving Iran. Saturday’s attack killed at least 12 people, including one American, and injured 309 others, according to Saudi officials. A further strike on Sunday killed one person and injured 11. President Donald Trump has said he is considering joining the campaign against the Houthis, raising the risk of further escalation.
