@fogofunknowns: Oct 12, 2026 What happens when oil and water meet in space? On Earth, oil floats on top of water because it’s lighter. Gravity pulls the heavier water down and pushes the lighter oil up, so they form neat layers. On the International Space Station, that doesn’t happen. The station is falling around Earth the whole time, so everything inside feels almost weightless. Oil and water no longer separate into layers. Instead they turn into big round balls. In the video you see blue water and clear oil inside a clear tube. The balls touch, stick together, and split apart again. They don’t mix into one liquid, oil and water still hate mixing, but without gravity pushing them apart they just hang there as spheres. Spin the tube and things change. The spinning force throws the heavier water to the outside while the lighter oil moves toward the middle. They separate again. That’s why astronauts study this stuff. It helps them figure out how to move fuel, recycle water, and handle liquids in space where the normal rules of “up” and “down” don’t work. Would you have guessed oil and water would turn into floating balls instead of layers? Video CR: ISS #NASA #viral #trending #viral #fyp
