Absolutely, 1 income yet bills aren’t half the price, my internet, TV, etc are still the same. Repair costs are covered by a single income, same for decorating, other household costs. And like you said, holidays you basically pay for two people to go by yourself x

Whatever council tax may be more expensive as single, but in a relationship, it cost a lot more for men, because they cover bill expenses and girlfriend expenses, even partial, but still...

It probably is a lot cheaper for the average occupant because a couple buying a bigger house is more expensive and they often have children which is staggeringly expensive so you might not have an argument.

I still have to heat up the same size house that I would have to heat up if there were two people here. I still have to run the fridge, I still have to run the TV etc. I pay for everything that you would have for two people, but I pay for it all on my own. Having a minuscule discount on my council tax does not outweigh the costs.

In a relationship you have double the income and expenses are 50% off as you split. Single ppl have half that income yet pay 100% of the expenses. Even CT you pay 50% in a relationship but 75% single

"council tax is cheaper for a start". Yes the 25% discount on council tax completely offsets having to pay every single bill, buy everything for the house and pay for all maintenance completely alone 🙄 how can anyone think paying for a home on a single income is cheaper?

Buildings and contents insurance is the same, car insurance, mortgage etc. it’s massively more expensive to be single!

I’ve read somewhere a single person is £7k a year worse off than a person in a relationship - on average. If I was living here with someone else I’d be laughing. The bills would be so much cheaper. I’d be saving £400 a month on rent alone.
