@cinemaoccupy: Ava DuVernay told a BFI London Film Festival Screen Talk on Monday that "Hollywood is over," The Hollywood Reporter reports. Asked how filmmakers can finance work like hers, she pointed to crowdfunding and asking people directly, such as 20 people investing $5,000 each. "They're buying each other, they're collapsing," DuVernay said of the studios, adding that artists and audiences will increasingly connect without a middleman. She is at the festival's 70th edition, which runs through October 18, with 14th, her new Netflix documentary on the 14th Amendment, a film she says she finished only two weeks ago.
