@howitworksxx: A hook-and-loop fastener creates its familiar ripping sound through thousands of tiny mechanical connections. One side contains stiff plastic hooks, while the other is covered with softer woven loops. Pressing the two surfaces together allows the hooks to catch inside the loops, creating a surprisingly strong temporary bond. When the strips are pulled apart, the loops stretch and release one after another, producing a rapid series of small vibrations that combine into the distinctive ripping sound. Viewed under magnification, this everyday fastener becomes a fascinating demonstration of friction, tension and simple mechanical engineering.
