@lavra.docs: This video provides a deep-dive technical analysis into the macroeconomic implications of demographic collapse, drawing a critical comparison between the Japanese 'lost decades' and emerging trends within the European Union. Key analytical pillars include: • Dependency Ratio Dynamics: An exploration of how shrinking workforces impact social security sustainability and the fiscal pressure on pension-funded welfare states. • Macro-Economic Stagnation: Investigation into the structural link between low fertility rates, urbanization-driven cost-of-living crises, and the subsequent contraction of domestic demand and GDP output. • Demographic Feedback Loops: Examination of the socioeconomic catalysts—ranging from housing market volatility to changing societal attitudes toward marriage—that reinforce fertility declines. • Policy Limitations: A critical review of current government interventions, including natalist financial incentives and mass migration policies, evaluated against the required scale of intervention needed to stabilize population pyramids. By synthesizing historical data from Japan’s economic trajectory with current EU labor and demographic statistics, this analysis frames the demographic crisis not as an isolated incident, but as a systemic risk to modern industrialized economies. #economicdevelopment #economics #japan #eu #europe

So it's not rocket science - if you make it hard for people to have families, they won't have families. One of the great ironies is the people who advocate traditional family values are also pro the things that make things harder to afford (housing, rent, food, travel, childcare) which inherently make it hard to have families. y'all want to solve the issue you need to start by making it easy to support a family

if you just made cheap housing near jobs and affordable to early 20s... you would not have this issue.

No matter, things will soon improve; European governments are effectively countering the situation with further cuts to social benefits for families. 🥰

Inflation, capitalism, whatever reason you think is the problem is not the actual reason. It is the misconception that every child needs to be raised in an environment where there is zero financial struggle. In some of the most impoverished nations on the planet the birth rate is extremely high because everyone is poor and it is considered normal to raise kids in poverty. We have created a social stigma of not being able to afford piano lessons for little Sally or private tutors for Jr.
