taking from pensioners to pay for pay increases to train drivers 🤔 surely that's not right, pensions will not keep up with wages without the triple lock, that's what it was for on the first place 🤔🥺

Bluemogganer :
The pensioners of today financed the country with their tax and national insurance payments. Some contributed to private or company pensions thereby reducing their take home pay. Now theyve retired those with additional pension income will be taxpayers for the rest of their lives. Thats apparently not good enough for some who think the triple lock needs to be changed. Perhaps the government needs to address other issues like Non Dom status, foreign aid, illegal immigrants, companies passing profits offshore and MP expenses to name a few.

Let’s not forget that UK pensions are one of the lowest in Europe and G7. So keeping up with inflation means that they will stay low in real terms.

If it was still going to rise, and it’s not cutting the benefit, how would it have saved money? It’s cutting benefits, to pensioners.

It's unaffordable. If you keep it triple locked, eventually it outpace wages. Who is paying for the triple lock when they want more than people earn? Mathematically, it has to go.

why are these people not getting that the state pension was not designed to be your only source of income??? it was designed as a top up to a private pension which they should have been paying into like the rest of us have to! Do they think that us in our 20’s will be solely living on a state pension in 40/50 years? 😂

Well if it's going to save millions then that must be coming out of pensioners pockets

The Triple Lock was unsustainable & needed to end regardless, if it didnt we would eventually uave been soendinf more on the triple lock than everything else in the country combined😂.. to get a National Care Service & a guaranteed Double-Lock is an amazing deal

It’s 2.5 x lock instead of triple so I genuinely cannot see savings at £9bn.

The government has stated a single person needs £30000 a year to live! Yet a pensioner gets just over £12000! How does that work?

in the long term pensioners will get less, the gap between pension and wages will get wider, you have to remember it's about percentages, 10% of pension is a lot less than 10% of minimum wage.

When you have got that sorted, where next? Cut your benefits? No I’m sure that’s not on your agenda.

He can raise that by ending foreign aid , no need to take from the pensioners.

When companies are making record profits and millionaires are doubling their wealth is it right to raise these funds from pensioners.

The UK State Pension is already just 50% of the govt’s own Living Wage. By removing the link to wages it will deteriorate further quickly
