@irishbehindeiredarren: 🕊️ IRISHBEHINDÉIRE — DEATH ON THE ROCK This song tells the story of Seán Savage, Daniel McCann and Mairéad Farrell, who were shot dead by the SAS in Gibraltar on 6 March 1988 during Operation Flavius. Their deaths sparked years of controversy, questions about the use of lethal force, and a legal battle that reached the European Court of Human Rights. In 1995, the court found that failures in the planning and control of the operation had violated Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The following days brought further tragedy at Milltown Cemetery and Andersonstown, leaving more families grieving and Belfast facing another devastating chapter in its history. This song is a tribute to the three who died, the families who endured the loss, and the importance of remembering the events that shaped Ireland's past. History must be remembered, even when it is painful. 🕊️ Seán Savage. Daniel McCann.
