Young Israeli settlers known as Hilltop Youth run down the hill and physically block the family from entering. As the teens shove and ram the family, Hassan Faraj keeps his hands behind his back so they can’t accuse him of hitting them, which would be a pretext for the settlers to escalate the confrontation. In recent months, militant settlers carried out violent attacks to drive out the Palestinians who live there, often with impunity. The Israeli government is showing an unwillingness to crack down on the violence.
