My 12 year olds struggle with this (they are both autistic) I still have to prompt them “what do you say” when someone says hi, bye, or greets them in someway. Have to remind them to “give eyes” when talking to someone as well. If kids don’t learn basic social skills and interactions they will grow up and wonder why people don’t talk to them, want to interact with them, or even avoid them

I work in daycare and I do not tolerate kids ignoring anyone when greeted. I don't care if they speak, wave, dance, fistbump or whatever but greetings are manners that need to be learned. The amount of parents tolerating rude behaviour nowadays is sickening.

When mom says good morning, ignore her and walk away. Do it until she comments. Then say you said that’s not required according to you. And mom never gave the answer to what is courtesy.

I encourage my kids to say good morning and I noticed if their parents don't say good morning the kids don't either so now I make them both speak 😏

She woulda had to take Brooklyn out the door and try again 😂😂 there’s a difference between actions that you don’t wanna do like hugs or high fives etc …. And simple BASIC manners that we teach our kids..

when my son was in headstart, the teacher REQUIRED "good morning" not "morning" or "hi" from everyone, including parents. then she got mad when I went "I just finishing working 10hrs. it is 8am. I cannot attest to the quality of the morning at this time. I wanna go to sleep." after she yelled at me in front of other parents saying I HAD to say good morning.

I made my son say good morning to a classmate after the classmate said good morning to my son and my son was so pissed. I was like "you don't have to play with anyone you don't want to but you do have to be polite and respond if someone talks to you." I don't know if that was the right way to handle it but like...I don't want to talk to half of my coworkers but I still have to be polite and learn how to live with people I might not like. I feel like it's a skill that needs to be learned.

I’m not a morning person been that way all my life…HOWEVER,as a child I at least waved when someone spoke to me in the morning. As an adult I muster up enough energy omw to work so I can speak in the morning to colleagues
