He financed a $300 million Pan-African communications satellite to break Europe's monopoly on the continent's telecommunications. He spent billions founding the African Union . Farrakhan understood why he was killed. "It wasn't the money, but the principles that made me his brother" , he said, recalling the $3 million loan Libya gave the Nation of Islam in the 1970s to buy Mosque Maryam in Chicago. He warned that the West would pay a price for what it did. "No nation will give up their weapons of mass destruction like Gaddafi did," he said. "Because it is the only protection they have against the wicked witches of the West" . Gaddafi is dead. Libya is fractured. The African Development Bank with $70 billion never materialized. But Farrakhan's words remain. They are a record of what was promised, what was built, and what was destroyed.
